Spring Clean Your Gravel Driveway

Spring is here, so it’s time to take a close look at your driveway to make sure it is ready for the upcoming seasons.

First things first. Check for any displaced gravel. Gravel that has managed to makes its way off your driveway and into your grass can easily be swept or raked back into place. It is easier to do this while the ground is still frozen to avoid damaging your lawn.

Spring is also a good time to check for potholes and ruts and potholes that have been created during the last year and especially during harsh winter conditions.

Smaller potholes can be taken care of by filling them in by raking the gravel around.

Deeper ruts and potholes may require a heavy-duty grader.

Every few years, plan on adding 1” to 2” new layer of gravel.
